On the job training and support will be provided.This role is a four year full-time apprenticeship position working Monday to Friday. The Opportunity

Maxima in partnership with ComfortDelGro Australia are currently seeking an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person to work as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic Apprentice as part of their Hillsbus Engineering team.

This opportunity will provide paid hands on practical experience whilst studying towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology. On the job training and support will be provided.

This role is a four year full-time apprenticeship position working Monday to Friday. National apprenticeship wages and conditions apply.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • General automotive workshop cleaning and maintenance
  • Work with hand tools, plant machinery and equipment
  • Undertake readings, engine and oil replacement and body repairs
  • Test vehicle performance, safety and run diagnostics
  • Liaison with customers, supervisors and automotive technicians
  • Follow work health and safety guidelines

Skills and Knowledge

  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Reliable, hardworking and punctual
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • An interest in heavy vehicles, trucks and automotive
  • Have good physical fitness to undertake manual labour
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Previous work experience in an automotive workshop an advantage

Requirements

  • Must hold a provisional or full driver’s licence and own vehicle
  • Must satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including alcohol and drug test
