The Role:

Location: Cleveland QLD
Duration: 12-month Traineeship
Start Date: February 2026

As a Business Administration Trainee, you’ll provide vital administrative support across council operations. You’ll learn from experienced mentors, develop practical skills, and build a strong foundation for your future career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general administrative support across the team
  • Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and tools like Teams and SharePoint
  • Assist with basic reporting and data tasks
  • Help manage user accounts and respond to support requests
  • Learn and use the Asset Management system for daily tasks
  • Support the Learning & Development Team with creating training materials
  • Learn about Strategic Asset and Funding Management (SAFM)

As part of your Traineeship, you’ll join Redland City Council’s Professional Development Program, giving you structured learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to Council-wide operations.

About You:

To be successful in this Traineeship, you will be:

  • Passionate about learning and building practical business skills in a real workplace
  • Reliable and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude toward new challenges
  • Comfortable working with others and happy to take initiative when working alone
  • A clear and friendly communicator, both in person and online
  • Organised and able to manage your time well, even when things get busy
  • Willing to learn new technology and systems, including Microsoft Office and other business tools

Role Requirements:

  • Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (desirable)
  • Strong computer and typing skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Be willing to complete a pre-employment functional assessment
  • Previous experience in administration or customer service (desirable)
