Cemetery Team Member – Civil Operator

About the role:
As a Cemetery Team Member, you’ll rotate across the sites and be involved in a wide range of operational activities that support burial, cremation, grounds maintenance, and customer services.
No two days are the same. One day you might be preparing a burial site, the next maintaining gardens, operating plant equipment, or assisting families and funeral directors with quiet professionalism.
You’ll receive on-the-job training, support to gain licences and tickets, and the opportunity to grow your skills and progress within the organisation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Preparing and maintaining burial and memorial sites with care and precision
  • Manual grave digging and site dressing
  • Operating plant and hand tools, including excavators, loaders, mowers and elevated platforms
  • Grounds, gardens and horticultural maintenance across parklands
  • Assisting with crematorium and mausoleum operations when required
  • Minor repairs, maintenance and refurbishment work
  • Working respectfully with grieving families, funeral directors and visitors
  • Supporting team members across different work areas and sites
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, environmental care and professionalism

What we’re looking for You don’t need formal qualifications — attitude matters most.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Are comfortable with physical, outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Current full driver’s licence required
  • Police history check required
  • Hold a current HR (Heavy Rigid) driver’s licence (essential)
  • Can work calmly, professionally and respectfully in sensitive environments
  • Take safety, quality and environmental responsibility seriously
  • Are flexible and open to rotating across sites and duties as required
