The Role:

Maxima, and the City of Marion, are looking for an outdoor enthusiast to undertake a Conservation and Ecosystem Management Traineeship.

This 36-month fulltime opportunity will see you exposed to both general gardening and sustainability practices to kickstart a successful horticulture career.

You will develop skills and knowledge in a variety of areas with hands-on experience, and paid study towards achieving a nationally recognised Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

Duties Include:

  • Brush cutting 
  • Weed and pest control
  • Collect and propagate native seeds
  • Implement revegetation works
  • Undertake sampling and testing of soil and water
  • Prepare and apply chemicals

About You:

  • Enjoy working outdoors and with garden tools
  • Strong work ethic; reliable and punctual 
  • Ability to prioritise time and tasks when working under pressure
  • Works effectively within a team and unsupervised
  • Great communication skills
  • Have a can-do attitude and willing to learn

Role Requirements:

  • Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle 
  • Physically fit and healthy due to manual labour work
  • Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including a drug and alcohol test
  • Previous experience in gardening, horticulture or similar trades (advantageous)
