Your Host Employer:

The Town of Walkerville is a small, dynamic and innovative Council which is home to almost 8,000 residents. The Township is the smallest Council in metropolitan Adelaide and covers a land area of 3.5km² in the Eastern metropolitan region. They remain the only Council in metropolitan Adelaide to have retained its ‘Town’ status.

The Role:

Maxima, and the Town of Walkerville, are looking for a motivated individual to undertake a Business Traineeship within the Customer and Library Services team. 

The Customer and Library Services Trainee is responsible for providing administrative, customer service and library support to the team and community.

Throughout this 18-month, fulltime opportunity you will gain hands-on experience, paid training and continuous mentoring towards gaining a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business.

Duties Include:

Community Engagement:

  • Provide high quality customer service to external and internal customers

Customer Service – Contact Centre:

  • Provide efficient first point of contact information and advice relating to Council programs, services and activities
  • Ensure all customer enquires (in person, via telephone, correspondence or through web-based services) are recorded and allocated appropriately
  • Undertake cashier services (in person, via telephone, correspondence or through web-based services)
  • Assist with maintenance of various register/databases and computer based records (customer request, infringements, financial database, building applications)
  • Assist in coordinating bookings for venues and RSVPs for Council events and maintaining community databases

Library Services:

  • Provide backup library services (including circulation, reference queries, local history enquiries, processing payments and administration duties)
  • Actively assist patrons use of the Library resources and equipment (e.g. photocopier, internet, wireless, online catalogues, e-Books and public access computers)

  • Strong work ethic, punctual and reliable
  • Great time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to multitask to meet deadlines
  • Friendly and approachable 
  • Thrives working with team environments and independently 

Role Requirements:

  • National Police Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Satisfactorily complete a Functional Capacity Evaluation
  • Previous customer service experience (desirable) 
  • Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office
