The Role:

Location: Cleveland, QLD
Duration: 12-month Traineeship
Start Date: February 2026

As an Events Trainee, you’ll work with a collaborative team and gain expose to all aspects of event management from client briefs to venue set up, building a strong foundation for your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Event Coordinator with all aspects of event planning and delivery, including set up and pack down
  • Work closely with suppliers, staff, and community members
  • Contribute to the creation of social media content and event promotion listings
  • Event related administration e.g. raising purchase orders and invoices, maintaining databases, and file management of images
  • Provide general administrative support as required

As part of your Traineeship, you’ll join Redland City Council’s Professional Development Program, giving you structured learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to Council-wide operations.

About You:

To be successful in this Traineeship, you will be:

  • Excited to learn about event planning and delivery and gain hands-on experience in a real workplace
  • Reliable and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude toward busy event days and new challenges
  • Enjoy working with people and happy to take initiative when tasks need to be done.
  • A friendly and clear communicator, whether speaking with guests, contractors, or team members
  • Organised and able to manage your time well, especially when juggling multiple event tasks
  • Willing to learn new tools and technology, including social media platforms and basic administrative systems

Role Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work varied work hours including occasional evenings/weekends
  • Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (desirable)
  • Strong computer and typing skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Be willing to complete a pre-employment functional assessment
  • Previous experience in administration or customer service (desirable)
