Position: Governance and Compliance officer / Corporate Manager

Location: Logan
Pay Rate: $65/hr + super
Contract: Mon – Fri, 38 hrs a week until December 2024 with possibility of extension

Maxima’s Recruitment Services is currently seeking highly motivated individual for Governance and compliance Officer for one of our local government clients.

Primary Role Purpose: This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence compliance strategies and contribute to the effective governance of Client’s beneficial enterprises. You will work closely with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability and adherence to regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage corporate governance for client’s beneficial enterprises
  • Develop and implement compliance strategies and frameworks
  • Provide expert advice on local government legislation and regulations
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure consistent reporting requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate compliance with relevant laws, policies, and procedures
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and committees

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, public administration, or related field
  • Extensive knowledge of Local Government Act 2009 and other relevant legislation
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and relationship building

Desired:

  • AICD Company Directors course or equivalent
  • Experience in local government or public sector
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks
