Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Position: Mechanic (Heavy Diesel)

Location: Hervey Bay/Maryborough
Hourly Rate: $45.94/hr + Super
Full-Time, Monday to Friday (38 hrs/week)
Contract until February 2025 with Possibility of Extension

Maxima’s Recruitment Services is currently seeking highly motivated individual as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic for one of our government clients.
Primary Role Purpose:
As a Mechanic, you will work closely with the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator and Workshop Programmer to perform mechanical tasks, assist with the efficient delivery of fleet services, and ensure all tasks are completed to a high industry standard.
 

  • Perform daily mechanical repairs and maintenance for Council’s vehicles, trucks, and plant equipment.
  • Assist in developing efficient mechanical practices and procedures, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers while ensuring fleet downtime is minimized.
  • Adhere to Work Health and Safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment and compliance with risk management practices.
  • Communicate any issues or non-compliance with daily maintenance to the Fleet Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call roster when required.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in mechanical maintenance, particularly for light fleet, trucks, and heavy plant equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear instructions and work well in a team.
  • Ability to multitask and manage several projects to meet tight deadlines while working under limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety policies and risk management procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Motor Vehicle trade qualification.
  • Current QLD Class C Driver’s licence (HR licence preferred).
  • General Safety Construction Induction Ticket.
  • Willingness to obtain further qualifications such as Confined Space Entry Ticket.
