The Role:
Location: Cleveland, QLD
Duration: 12-month Traineeship
Start Date: February 2026
As an Information Technology Trainee, you’ll be part of a dynamic helpdesk team, providing tech support to staff and clients. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a range of IT systems and infrastructure, building the skills to pursue a career in any IT domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly IT support to staff and respond to technology requests
- Learn to troubleshoot and resolve common technical issues.
- Assist with installing software, setting up systems, and maintaining devices
- Support computers, phones, and other IT equipment to keep everything running smoothly
- Help with Council IT systems and work with Google and Android technologies
- Report issues and escalate to vendors when needed
As part of your Traineeship, you’ll join Redland City Council’s Professional Development Program, giving you structured learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to Council-wide operations.
About You:
To be successful in this Traineeship, you will need:
- Some experience with technology (e.g., helping others, school projects, or volunteering) and keen to build on it
- Passionate about IT and curious about how it works in a professional setting
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and eager to learn from experienced professionals.
- Enjoy helping people and solving problems in a friendly way
- Clear communicator and organised, ready to learn new tools and systems
Role Requirements:
- Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (desirable)
- Basic knowledge of Google or Microsoft Suite of applications and operating systems
- Be willing to complete a pre-employment functional assessment
- Previous experience in administration or customer service (desirable)
