The Role:

Maxima, and your local Council, are looking for a motivated individual to undertake an Information Technology Traineeship.

As the Information and Communication Technology Trainee you are responsible for assisting to maintain daily operations with a key focus on providing IT User Support Services across the Council and Council remote sites, including computer hardware and software, desktop and user support services.

Throughout this 24-month, fulltime opportunity you will gain hands-on experience, paid training and continuous mentoring towards gaining a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Duties Include:

  • Provide and assist with user support services including software and desktop
  • Conduct user training for employees in the use of computer systems and software packages
  • Assist to administer and maintain ICT equipment e.g. computer servers, software and hardware
  • Install and set up new desktop computers and peripherals e.g. mouse and keyboard
  • Deploy service packs, updates and upgrades to server applications
  • Assist with performing regular system backups
  • Assist to maintain and support desktop applications
  • Assist to administer and maintain external website and Intranet
  • Liaise with external service providers in relation to issue resolutions and procurement of hardware and software

  • Enthusiasm for all things IT related
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer service
  • High attention to detail and problem solving skills 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Displays initiative and a hardworking attitude 
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and juggle various deadlines 

Role Requirements:

  • Completion of Certificate III in IT and/or experience in IT (desirable)
  • Cannot have completed a Certificate IV in IT 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite of applications and operating systems
  • National Police Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (preferable)
  • Previous customer service experience (desirable)
