The Role:
Maxima, and our Host Employers, are seeking committed individuals to undertake a Mechanical Engineer Apprenticeship. There are multiple positions available including Fitter and Turner (southern suburbs) and Die Setter (northern suburbs).
These roles will see you working out of the workshop assisting to program and operate a variety of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery, troubleshooting where faults arise. This is a great chance for a dependable hard worker to build solid experience and skills within the industry to set themselves up for a successful career.
Across 48 months you will work full time, gain paid, practical experience and study a nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade.
Duties Include:
- Operate workshop equipment
- Assist in Computer-aided Design/Computer-aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) Programming
- Faults and troubleshooting diagnostics
- Read, interpret, and follow instructions
- Deliver and collect parts and goods
- Manage and stock take parts and tools
- Use specialised equipment and tools
- General warehouse and labouring duties

- Passionate about the engineering and manufacturing industry

- Eye for detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Thrives working in team environments
- Love learning new systems and procedures
Role Requirements:
- Current drivers’ licence with own vehicle
- Current forklift licence (desirable)
- Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment, including a drug and alcohol test
- Possess good physical fitness to perform manual tasks
- Previous experience or pre-vocational certificate (desirable)
