Our client is seeking a Permit Management Officer on a full time basis (Monday to Friday/40 hours per week) for a 12 month contract (with a possible extension).
You will be reporting to the Manager Safety, the role is responsible for coordinating work permits to ensure the safety of all personnel performing work at the Outer Harbour and assisting the Port Safety Coordinators in managing Port compliance and safety training initiatives.

Key duties include:
- Coaching and mentoring of staff and contractors in the application of the Permit to Work system and broader WHS requirements.
- Assist in site WHS audits and inspections.
- Oversee the efficient and effective use of the Permit to Work process and associated procedures, including but not limited to:
- Review and authorise Permit to Work forms, checking that all forms are completed in full and signed by all relevant parties.
- Checking that an appropriate level of risk management has been provided for all Permit to Work forms.
- Coordinate isolations of plant and equipment with the relevant authorised isolation and verification technicians.
- Audit and monitor permits to confirm efficacy and efficiency.
- Experience in the practical application of Work Health and Safety in a heavy industrial/mining industry.
- Experience in delivering workplace training and/or in the development of workplace training plans.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (desirable)
- Train Small Groups, Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Training & Assessment (desirable)
Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience in the practical application of Work Health and Safety in a heavy industrial/mining industry.

- Knowledge of the WA WHS legislation, regulations and practices.
- Interpersonal, communication and negotiations skills.
- Report writing and analytical skills.
- Strong computer literacy skills.
- Knowledge and experience with permit issuing ( highly desirable).
