Duration: 12-month Traineeship
Start Date: February 2026

As a Tourism Trainee, you will work alongside experienced professionals and learn the ins and outs of the tourism sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist to plan and create online content to promote the Redlands Coast and its attractions
  • Help the Events Team with setting up and running Council-led events
  • Welcome visitors at the Information Centre and assist them in planning great experiences in the region
  • Create simple marketing materials such as social media posts and flyers to showcase what Redlands Coast has to offer
  • Support local businesses and tourism operators by helping promote their products and experiences
  • Learn about tourism operations and compliance requirements

As part of your Traineeship, you’ll join Redland City Council’s Professional Development Program, giving you structured learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to Council-wide operations.

About You:

To be successful in this Traineeship, you will be:

  • Keen to learn about events and tourism and gain hands-on experience in a real workplace
  • Reliable and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude toward busy event days and new challenges
  • Friendly and clear communicator, whether chatting with visitors or working with the team
  • Organised and able to manage your time well, especially when juggling different tasks
  • Willing to learn new tools and technology, including social media platforms and basic admin systems

Role Requirements:

  • Flexibility to work varied work hours including occasional evenings/weekends
  • Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle (desirable)
  • Strong computer and typing skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Be willing to complete a pre-employment functional assessment
  • Previous experience in administration or customer service (desirable)
