Opening over 30 new offices across Australia

We’re hiring up to 170 new staff around Australia and will more than double in size after emerging as one of the big winners in an overhaul of the Australian Government’s $800 million-a-year Disability Employment Services (DES) program.

The Department of Social Services had awarded Maxima a total of 32 contracts to deliver the DES program under a new “open” model that took effect from 1 July 2018.

Maxima’s Chairman, John Schumann, said the group’s success in the national DES overhaul recognised its excellent track record in supporting Australians with a disability to make their way into the workforce.

“Our staff live and breathe our ethos of ‘we see potential.’ They look to create opportunities for people with a disability that otherwise would not exist. And if taking our clients to the shops or driving them to work is what gets the ball rolling, then that’s what they do. We are immensely proud of our people and our Board is delighted to see their passion and commitment rewarded in this way,” Mr Schumann said.

The successful tender means Maxima’s DES activity is expanding from 7 offices across metropolitan and regional Adelaide to 39 offices across South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. Maxima will also open another 20 “pop up” or outreach service locations.

He added that the reforms to the DES program from 1 July introduced much-needed competition and were great news for jobseekers with a disability.
