Head Start NSW Program

Are you a First Nations student looking to kick-start your future career? Through Head Start, Maxima is offering FREE Pre-Traineeship Courses to eligible students in Blacktown, NSW.

The Head Start Program is an initiative of the Educational Pathways Program (EPP) with the NSW Department for Education and designed to help students unlock their future careers through fee-free accredited training. By completing a Pre-Apprenticeship or Pre-Traineeship Course, students experience career pathways of interest and gain nationally recognised units of competency that can be credited towards a full apprenticeship or traineeship course should they choose to take this career pathway.

The program aims to improve student awareness of vocational education and training, and employment pathways and provides opportunities for Employers to source suitable candidates to fill workforce gaps.

The program provides students with:

  • Free pre-vocational training in 3-4 nationally.
  • Highly transferable skills from completing 3-4 units of competency.
  • Industry Immersion opportunities to learn on-the-job skills and meet industry leaders.
  • Credit to be used towards a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT), or an apprenticeship or traineeship.
