Maxima’s client, a State Government department have a highly sought after position available for an experienced Graphic Designer based in their Cairns office. This assignment is due to go to end of June 2027 with the possibility of extension for an additional 12-24 months for the right candidate. Casual hourly pay of $69.21 + super.
In the role of AO5(1) Graphic Designer (Customer & Stakeholder Management) you will create visually competing materials across print, digital, videography and online platforms to support the Region’s stakeholder and community engagement program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver high‑quality creative design solutions that align with the North Queensland Region program’s strategic objectives, and inform, inspire and connect with our stakeholders and communities.
- Provide expert visual design and digital communication advice to our Region’s executives and stakeholders, including guidance on branding, asset production, and whole‑of‑government requirements.
- Design, layout and produce a diverse range of communication materials aligned with brand guidelines, including videos, publications, brochures, newsletters, displays, maps, presentations, social media content, and digital/print advertisements.
- Apply a customer‑centered mindset to ensure creative outputs meet high-quality standards, accessible communication guidelines, deadlines and budget requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance, contributing to improving visual communication processes, services and standards within the Communication and Stakeholder Management team.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in design, publishing and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro; Microsoft Office Suite).
- Basic understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), including creating accessible PDFs and Microsoft Word documents.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative, contemporary design solutions for complex communication needs.
- Proven experience producing high‑level creative work for large corporate or government organisations.
- Ability to work effectively in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment with strong problem‑solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Experience working within corporate branding and style guidelines.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong time management and organisational skills.
Desirables:
- Minimum of five years’ experience as a visual communicator across the areas of graphic design, digital, visual or creative design.
- Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- Knowledge of Queensland Government processes and policies
