The role:
We are seeking a carpentry apprentice who is ready to contribute practical skills while continuing to learn under the guidance of our qualified tradespeople and project managers. The placement offers varied, hands-on experience across different sites and work environments, with exposure to other trades involved in commercial maintenance and refurbishment. Work will take place across commercial premises, retail facilities and aged care sites. Some sites remain occupied during works, so the apprentice must work considerately, keep areas tidy and follow site-specific requirements.

Preferred apprentice level:
• A 3rd or 4th year carpentry apprentice; or
• A mature age 2nd year apprentice with solid industry experience and strong practical skills.

Key duties:
• Assist with carpentry installation, repairs and maintenance, including doors, frames, skirtings, architraves and other timber fixtures.
• Assist with refurbishment and defit works, including the removal and replacement of fixtures and building components.
• Measure, mark out, cut and prepare materials under appropriate supervision.
• Read and follow drawings, job instructions and specifications appropriate to their training level.
• Use hand and power tools safely and maintain tools and equipment.
• Assist with material handling, site preparation, protection of surrounding areas and clean-up.
• Follow site inductions, SWMS, safe work procedures and PPE requirements.
• Complete accurate timesheets and provide job notes and photographs as directed.
• Communicate progress, defects, safety concerns and any issues requiring further instruction to the supervising tradesperson or project manager.
• Attend and complete required apprenticeship training and assessments.

• Current driver’s licence and reliable transport to attend assigned work sites.
• Strong work ethic, reliability and punctuality.
• Initiative and a willingness to learn and take direction.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks appropriate to their competence and supervision requirements.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• A respectful, professional manner when working near clients, residents, staff and members of the public.
• Genuine interest in developing a long-term career in carpentry.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
