About the Role
Maxima are seeking motivated and safety-focused Arborists for multiple roles within our major Local Government clients on a casual basis. These roles support the maintenance, management, and preservation of the Council’s urban forest and public green spaces.
Working as part of a collaborative field crew, you will undertake a range of arboriculture and vegetation management tasks including tree pruning, removals, hazard reduction, and general tree maintenance across parks, streetscapes, and public reserves.
Key Responsibilities: (not limited to)
- Perform tree pruning, trimming, removals, and general arboriculture maintenance
- Operate chainsaws and associated arboriculture equipment safely and efficiently
- Undertake tree inspections and basic risk assessments
- Assist with vegetation management and storm damage response
- Follow safe work practices and adhere to WHS policies and procedures
- Work effectively within a team and contribute to maintaining Council assets and public safety
Essential Requirements:
- MR (Medium Rigid) Driver Licence
- Chainsaw ticket and demonstrated chainsaw experience
- Certificate III in Horticulture or Arboriculture
- Demonstrated experience in arboriculture or tree maintenance
- Ability to work safely in outdoor environments and physically demanding conditions
- National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening
Desirable Qualifications:
- Work Zone Traffic Management (WZTM) ticket
- Experience working in local government or civil maintenance environments
- Elevated Work Platform (EWP) ticket (if applicable)
What these positions offer:
- Casual hourly rate of $40 – $45 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
- Monday to Friday, 9 day fortnight.
