Position: Grants Capacity Building Officer
Location: Logan
Pay Rate: $44 – 53/hr + super
Employment Type: Contract position, mon- fri, 38 hrs a week until Jan 2026
Maxima’s Recruitment Services is currently seeking various highly motivated individuals as a Grants Capacity Building Officer for one of our government clients.
The Grants Capacity Building Officer plays a crucial role in empowering local community organizations to secure funding for events, projects, equipment and infrastructure. This position is responsible for increasing the skills and capabilities of community groups in identifying relevant grants and preparing competitive grant applications.
The officer will contribute to improving the quality and relevance of applications to Client’s grant programs and assist organizations in bringing more resources to the community.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Engage proactively with internal and community stakeholders to identify funding needs and capacity building opportunities related to grants
- Develop and deliver information sessions, workshops, and training to enhance local organizations’ skills in project planning, grant writing, and reporting
- Provide one-on-one support to organizations in preparing Council grant applications and offer constructive feedback
- Promote and support community groups in applying for state, federal, and private grants, tracking successful funding secured for the city
- Facilitate relationships between like-minded organizations for joint grant applications where appropriate
- Assist community members in navigating internal and external funding opportunities and provide guidance on Council-funded initiatives
- strategic advice to local organizations on developing competitive grant applications, including assessing business plans and organizational goals.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on capacity building outcomes regularly
- Manage allocated operational budgets under the direction of the Community Grants Coordinator.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications and Skills
- Qualification and/or equivalent experience in project management, community development, or local government discipline
- Demonstrated skills and experience in working with local community organizations on grant identification and application processes
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to prepare professional reports and correspondence for various audiences
- Knowledge of community organization operations and governance structures
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for grant management and reporting
Requirements
- Possession of a current “C” class driver’s license
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including potential after-hours or on-call duties
