This is not your average gardening job!
The Role:
You will be part of council teams responsible for maintaining parks, reserves, streetscapes and community spaces. Work that is seen and used every day, keeping outdoor spaces functional, safe, and looking their best.
This 36-month fulltime traineeship will give you the opportunity to get your hands dirty and work outdoors.
You will develop skills and knowledge in a variety of areas with hands-on experience, and paid study towards achieving a nationally recognised Certificate III in Horticulture
Location:
Inner Eastern Suburbs
Key responsibilities:
- General parks and garden maintenance.
- Mowing, edging, pruning and brush cutting.
- Planting, mulching, and weed control.
- Operating horticultural equipment and machinery.
- Verge, reserve and open space maintenance.
- Working within a team to maintain council landscapes and public spaces.
To be successful:
- Current driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Physically fit and healthy due to undertaking manual labour work
- Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including a drug and alcohol test
- Previous experience in gardening or similar trades (advantageous)
- Reliable with a positive attitude to work well within a team.
