Horticulture Traineeship
Maxima, in conjunction with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council, are currently seeking a passionate individual who loves being out in nature to kick-start their career in horticulture.
Your Host Employer:
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is one of Adelaide’s largest councils and is spread across 51 suburbs, just 8km away from the CBD. This council is home to historical buildings, cultural facilities, sporting grounds, reserves and an abundance of parks which, if successful, you could be working in every day.
This exciting and diverse opportunity will see you working to maintain local plants, parks, gardens, streetscapes and open spaces across the council area. Interacting with community members and working alongside experienced horticultural professionals, you will help create and maintain attractive outdoor environments that enhance the local community.
Across 3-years you will be working fulltime receiving paid, on-the-job training whilst studying towards a nationally recognised Certificate III in Horticulture.

Duties Include:
· Mowing, pruning, mulching and planting
· Weed and pest control
· Garden and grounds maintenance
· Lay irrigation pipes and install watering systems
· Minor landscaping works
· Use of garden tools and machinery including woodchippers
· Maintain parks, reserves, streetscapes and open spaces
About You:
· Love being outdoors
· Not afraid of hard work and enduring all weather conditions
· Take initiative to complete tasks
· Great problem-solving skills
· Effectively works as part of a team with great communication skills
· Passionate about maintaining and improving community spaces
Role Requirements:
· Current driver’s licence and own vehicle
· Physically fit and healthy due to manual labour work
· Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment, drug/alcohol test and police clearance
