Horticulture

About the Role:
This is not your average gardening job. You’ll be part of council teams responsible for maintaining parks, reserves, streetscapes, and community spaces — work that is seen and used every day.
Expect a mix of horticulture and irrigation duties, keeping outdoor spaces functional, safe, and looking their best.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain parks, gardens, turf, and public open spaces
  • Operate machinery including mowers and minor plant equipment
  • Carry out irrigation maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting
  • Perform hedging, pruning, slashing, and verge maintenance
  • Assist with landscaping and general labouring tasks
  • Follow WHS procedures and maintain a safe work environment

To Be Successful:

  • Previous horticulture / parks & gardens experience (essential)
  • Irrigation experience or exposure (highly regarded)
  • MR Licence (essential)
  • White Card (essential)
  • Experience operating mowers / plant equipment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Current National Police Clearance (or willing to obtain)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical & drug/alcohol screen
