This is a rewarding opportunity to deliver engaging swimming lessons, support participants to develop essential water-safety skills and contribute to a welcoming, professional and child-safe aquatic environment.
About the role As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you will:
- Plan and deliver safe, structured and engaging swimming lessons.
- Adapt your instruction to each participant’s age, ability and learning needs.
- Help participants develop water confidence, stroke technique and lifesaving skills.
- Supervise participants and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Record attendance and complete participant assessments and certificates.
- Set up, pack away and care for lesson equipment.
- Complete relevant Learn to Swim administration.
- Attend required training sessions and staff meetings.
- Provide a high standard of customer service to participants and families.
- Demonstrate professionalism and uphold The ARC’s Child Safe practices.
About you We are looking for instructors who:
- Enjoy working with children and people of different ages and abilities.
- Communicate clearly, patiently and positively.
- Can build encouraging relationships with participants and families.
- Are reliable, organised and committed to providing high-quality lessons.
- Understand the importance of child safety and professional workplace conduct.
- Can work effectively as part of a busy aquatic team.
- Are available to work a range of shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Required qualifications and clearances Successful applicants must hold and maintain:
- A current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety licence or equivalent recognised qualification.
- A current First Aid certificate.
- A current CPR certificate.
- A valid Working with Children Check.
- A current National Police Clearance.
- Current approved Child Safe Environments training.
Applicants must continue to maintain all mandatory qualifications and clearances throughout their employment.
