Nursery Production Assistant

Maxima Recruitment Services is seeking Nursery Production Assistants for a seasonal role in Murray Bridge, commencing 31 August 2026 through to 26 February 2027.  
 
About the Role
The Nursery Production Assistant supports the day-to-day operation of the nursery, assisting with native plant production, plant care, order preparation and general nursery maintenance. The role involves working both indoors and outdoors as part of a team in a physically active environment.

 
Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the collection, processing and propagation of native seeds
  • Maintain plant stock to a high standard, including monitoring plant health
  • Prepare and dispatch plant orders accurately
  • Provide customer service and advice on plant selection and maintenance
  • Respond to customer enquiries in person and over the phone
  • Assist with retail sales and cash handling
  • Maintain nursery displays, garden beds and infrastructure
  • Operate tools and equipment safely
  • Contribute to a safe, clean and productive workplace
  • Work collaboratively as part of the nursery team

About You
To be successful, you will be reliable, practical and comfortable working in a physically active nursery environment, including both indoor and outdoor work and periods of standing. You will have a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a production environment.

You will bring:

  • An interest in native plants, nursery work or horticulture
  • A strong focus on plant care, presentation and accuracy
  • The ability to undertake hands-on tasks in indoor and outdoor conditions
  • Clear and friendly communication skills
  • Confidence assisting customers and responding to enquiries
  • Safe and responsible use of tools and equipment
  • Reliability and availability across the seasonal assignment, including full-time availability or confirmed days per week
  • A team-focused approach and willingness to support general nursery operations

 
Required Skills and Experience

  • Previous nursery, horticulture, garden maintenance, retail or customer service experience will be highly regarded
  • The ability to follow safe work practices and workplace procedures
  • Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks
  • Accuracy when preparing orders and maintaining stock
  • Willingness to work weekends and public holidays as required, and an understanding that the role is located at Murray Bridge
  • The ability to obtain or provide a National Police Check
  • Details of any relevant licences such as forklift, driver’s licence or chemical handling accreditation.
