Permit Room Officer

Our client is seeking a Permit Room Officer that coordinates work permits to ensure the safety of all personnel within the business who manage compliance and safety training for the business. Located in Kwinana, your roster will be 3/2 2/3 (Monday to Friday) 12 hour shifts for a minimum of 2 months and possible extension.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure compliance with the Permit to Work process and associated procedures, including but not limited to;
  • Review and authorise Permit to Work forms, ensuring the form has been completed in full and signed by all relevant parties.
  • Ensure a level of risk management has been provided for all Permit to Work forms.
  • Ensure all relevant Work Certificates and supporting documentation is attached to the Master Copy of the Permit to Work form.
  • Coordinate isolations of plant and equipment with the Maintenance Supervisor and the Duty Electrician.
  • Ensure currency of the Permit to Work register and maintain consistent and accurate communication to management and staff.
  • Maintain communication with Operations and Maintenance and coordinate with the relevant parties to minimise any impact on operations.
  • Ensure that isolations are removed, and the lock box cleared following closing of Permit to Work forms.

You will possess these qualifications, experience & skills:

  • Experience in the practical application of safety and health in heavy industry at a trade level.
  • A working knowledge and experience with permit issuing is highly desirable.
  • Developed interpersonal, communication and ideally, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Developed report writing and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
