Senior Environmental Officer
Major Transport Infrastructure Project l North Brisbane (Deagon, QLD)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Officer to support delivery of the Gateway Motorway and Bruce Highway Upgrade (GMBHU) program—one of Queensland’s largest multi-billion-dollar transport infrastructure projects.
Working on the Gateway to Bruce Upgrades (G2BU), you will play a key role in managing environmental approvals, compliance, and risk across complex, high-profile construction works.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide environmental advice to ensure compliance with State & Commonwealth legislation (including EPBC Act)
- Support EPBC processes (referrals, self-assessments, Public Environmental Reports)
- Coordinate and assist with submission of EPBC referrals
- Review environmental permits, licenses, and approvals
- Support environmental offsets and compliance requirements
- Assist with contaminated land and PFAS management planning
- Review environmental and design documentation (EMPs, fauna, erosion & sediment control, water quality)
- Conduct site inspections and environmental audits
- Contribute to Infrastructure Sustainability (ISC) ratings and reporting
- Work closely with project teams, consultants, and regulators
- Identify and manage environmental risks impacting project delivery
About You
Essential:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or similar
- Current Class C driver’s license
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and approvals processes
Highly Regarded:
- 5+ years’ experience in major infrastructure or road construction projects
- Experience with EPBC approvals
- ISAP accreditation (or working towards)
