Taxation Compliance & Governance Lead

Maxima are seeking a Taxation Compliance and Governance Lead for their client based in Tewantin. This position is a temporary specialist role responsible  for leading the response to two critical taxation compliance projects relating to Fringe Benefits and Superannuation Guarantee.
 
Working Monday to Friday based out of the office in Tewantin we’re offering a casual hourly pay of $72.84 + super.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of specialist taxation compliance projects, with a primary focus on Fringe
    Benefits Tax (FBT) and Superannuation Guarantee (SG), ensuring milestones, deliverables and
    outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes
  • Act as Council’s specialist within Financial Services for taxation and compliance, providing expert
    advice on Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Goods and Services Tax (GST), contractor classification
    including superannuation and supplier-related taxation obligations
  • Undertake and oversee retrospective compliance reviews, including data analysis, risk identification
    and impact assessment, to quantify exposure and support remediation strategies
  • Design, document and embed fit-for-purpose governance frameworks, policies, procedures and
    internal controls that strengthen compliance oversight and support sustainable business-as-usual
    practices post-project
  • Provide specialist oversight and guidance to internal stakeholders (Finance, Remuneration & Benefits,
    HR, Procurement and Governance), clarifying accountabilities and supporting informed decision
    making
  • Prepare high-quality executive-level documentation, including briefings, risk assessments, options
    papers and recommendations to inform senior leadership and governance bodies

To Be Successful:

  • Current c class driver’s license – essential
  • Degree qualification in accounting, finance, business or a related discipline – essential
  • Advanced technical knowledge of Australian taxation legislation relevant to payroll and employment arrangements, including Fringe Benefits Tax, Superannuation Guarantee and contractor engagement models
  • Demonstrated experience leading taxation, superannuation or compliance-focused projects, ideally within local government or a large, complex public or corporate environment
  • Experience designing and implementing policies, procedures and internal control frameworks that support sustainable, post-project compliance environments
  • Proven experience conducting retrospective compliance reviews, identifying regulatory risk and supporting remediation and governance uplift initiatives
  • Strong capability in project governance, documentation and delivery, including defining scope, managing dependencies, reporting on progress and achieving agreed outcomes
