The Role:
Location: Cleveland QLD
Duration: 12 or 24-month Traineeship
Start Date: February 2026
As a Water Industry Operations Trainee, you will work alongside experienced mentors to learn and apply skills in installing and maintaining water and sewer systems, operating treatment processes, and environmental management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help install and maintain water and sewer systems
- Safely perform outdoor manual tasks
- Learn to use hand and power tools
- Monitor and protect water sources and related grounds
- Follow safety procedures and work well in a team
As part of your Traineeship, you’ll join Redland City Council’s Professional Development Program, giving you structured learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to Council-wide operations.
About You:
To be successful in this Traineeship, you will need to:
- Enjoy working outdoors
- Be committed, reliable and hardworking
- Manage and prioritise tasks under pressure
- Work effectively in a team and independently
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be safety-conscious and willing to follow procedures
Role Requirements:
- Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
- Good physical fitness for manual tasks
- Be willing to complete a pre-employment functional assessment (including drug and alcohol screening)
- Previous experience in water operations or related fields (advantageous)
