The Role:
 
Location: Cleveland QLD
Duration: 12-month Traineeship
Start Date: ASAP
 
As a Water Industry Operations Trainee, you will work alongside experienced mentors to learn and apply skills in operating and maintaining treatment processes, including membrane technology and environmental management practices.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Assist in operating the 8 treatment plants across Council area
  • Safely perform outdoor manual tasks
  • Learn to carry out laboratory sampling and testing to monitor the processes
  • Monitor and protect water sources and the environment
  • Follow safety procedures and work well in a team

 
As part of your Traineeship, you’ll join Redland City Council’s Professional Development Program, giving you structured learning, networking opportunities, and exposure to Council-wide operations.

To be successful in this Traineeship, you will need to:
 

  • Enjoy working outdoors
  • Be committed, reliable and hardworking
  • Manage and prioritise tasks under pressure
  • Work effectively in a team and independently
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be safety-conscious and willing to follow procedures

 
Role Requirements:
 

  • Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
  • Good physical fitness for manual tasks
  • Be willing to complete a pre-employment functional assessment (including drug and alcohol screening)
  • Previous experience in water operations or related fields (advantageous)
