With a passion for customer service, a can-do attitude, and a little support from Maxima Joblink, Mitchell has gained his ideal role at Dan Murphy’s and is now an integral part of the customer service team.

The job search process was tough for Mitchell, especially when it came to completing online applications without extra support. After he was knocked back by a few employers, Mitchell decided to reach out to Maxima Joblink for assistance as he struggled with a learning disability, dyslexia and speech impediment.

Mitchell met with Employment Consultant, Bek, who worked with him to identify his short and long-term goals, assisted him with completing online applications, helped him to follow up on leads with employers as well as holding mock interviews to help boost his confidence.

One Mitchell’s ultimate goals was to work in a supermarket or liquor store, and so Bek helped to get the ball rolling and Mitchell began a course to obtain his RSA. Bek was there, every step of the way, to help Mitchell with course work and they were both over the moon when the good news came that he obtained his certificate!

It wasn’t long until Mitchell was offered a Christmas casual position at Dan Murphy’s, which turned into ongoing employment. Mitchell couldn’t be more thrilled and has started to branch out, learning about other areas of the store and different kinds of liquor and is motivated by his desire to help customers. Overall, he really loves his job and the team environment and his manager, Laura, shares the sentiment…

“After running interviews for Christmas casuals in store it was clear, even very early on, that Mitchell would become a valuable member of our team. The impact he has had both on our team and customers has been incredible. His positive attitude, his caring and helpful nature is inspiring. He has exceeded all our expectations,” Laura shares.

To top off his recent job success, Mitchell has saved up and purchased a new set of wheels and is working towards getting his provisional license.
