Angela, a resident of Huonville, Tasmania, is now thriving in a business traineeship at Maxima. She is embracing a new path in business administration, a milestone she once thought unreachable. Angela’s journey with Maxima began after discovering their services at her local Centrelink, which delivered the spark she may have needed to explore her employment potential.
Supportive Journey Towards Confidence
Angela’s initial interactions with Maxima’s employment consultants focused on building her confidence and exploring her goals. With guidance from her consultant Olivia Riley and Site Manager Bridget Reinmuth, Angela worked through Maxima’s Esher House training modules, feeling her confidence grow with each step. Overcoming anxiety and a long-standing discomfort with social settings, she gradually developed the courage to attend her appointments independently, no longer needing a family member for support. This accomplishment, Angela said, filled her with pride.
“I feel the most confident I’ve been in years,” she shared. “Maxima’s support has helped me overcome the barriers that kept me from venturing out on my own.”
A Career Opportunity She Never Imagined
After excelling in her training, Bridget and Olivia proposed an exciting opportunity: a Certificate III in Business traineeship with Maxima itself. With support from her consultants throughout the application and interview processes, Angela successfully joined the team at Maxima’s Huonville office. In her new role, she assists with emails, greets customers, sets up training sessions, and manages various administrative tasks.
Reflecting on this new chapter, Angela shared, “I feel proud of myself. I’m learning new things every day and loving the positive atmosphere. This role is out of my comfort zone but is exactly where I want to be.”
A Bright Future Ahead
Angela’s journey with Maxima represents the altering power of supportive employment services. By reframing what’s possible and encouraging her confidence, Maxima has enabled Angela to step into a new field, where she continues to thrive and remains focused on building her skills and strengthening her confidence.
With a new sense of purpose and an ever-growing support network, Angela’s story reminds us that with the right support and a little confidence, even the biggest barriers can become stepping stones to new beginnings.
In the words of Theodore Roosevelt, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”
